MySQL is the world’s most popular and commonly used open source relational database management system (RDBMS) because of its availability, features, performance, proficiency and robustness. It runs as a server providing multiuser access to a number of databases. It provides three types of database engines, MyISAM, InnoDB, and MySQL Archive.

MyISAM table is the fast, simple, reliable and is the default table type or storage engine. Each MyISAM table is stored as three files: .frm (definition table), .MYD (data file) and .MYI (index file). It allows full-text searching and may become corrupt and inaccessible due to various logical and hardware corruption issues and may cause to system crash. A MyISAM table gets corrupted due to various reasons such as hardware issues, errors in MyISAM or MySQL code, unexpected system shutdown, killing of mysqld process while writing or use of external program to modify a table that is simultaneously being modified by server.

MySQL database may get corrupted due to a number of reasons such as unexpected system shutdown, corrupt file system, virus attacks, hardware failure, out of space problem, login failure, power failure or contradiction with any newly installed hardware or software.

In case a user had started MySQL Server with MyISAM-recover-options, MySQL automatically checks and tries to repair MyISAM tables if they are marked as ‘not closed properly’ or ‘crashed’. MyISAM table got corrupted and MySQL generates a lot of errors such as ‘Warning: Checking table….’, ‘Warning: Repairing table…’and needs to be repaired.

User must use appropriate corrective measures for repairing MySQL database and should use a third-party MySQL recovery software. Kernel for MySQL database repairs the corrupt MyISAM format database and recovers all tables and its properties like triggers, views and primary keys from MySQL database with complete accuracy. The recovery process consists of only three simple steps- Browse the damaged file, Preview the recovered data in a tree-like hierarchical structure, and Saves the recovered data to desired location in two modes- Save in MySQL Server either as a new database or in an existing database or save it offline in batch format.
